I visited here when they opened the doors to the public. A wide variety of marine species, shells, and a lot of specimens including penguins are there. This helped me to understand the wealth of the ocean. Allover it's a great experience.

ICAR-CMFRI, which stands for Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, is a premier research organization headquartered in Kochi, Kerala, India. The pioneer institute in Marine research in India. The Marine Biodiversity Division maintains a resourceful museum, which is a designated national repository under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. It has over 2500 marine specimens that include fishes, shells, corals, crabs, seagrass and algae, starfishes, dolphins, snakes, penguin, sharks and rays etc. A marine aquarium is also here. Visitors are allowed all the working days from 9.30 am to 4.30pm without prior permission(fee for adult - ₹20 and children-₹10).

The history it embodies is worth knowing. Must visit place for biology students and marine enthusiasts. Fossils of lots of extinct marine species.
